As 2025 comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude to you all for your continued participation and partnership with the Washington State Crime Prevention Association. Whether you attended our 40-hour Basic Crime Prevention Course, one of our Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Certification courses, our annual Crime Prevention Conference, or participated in our Crime Prevention Thursday sessions, we appreciate your engagement and service to your communities. Thank you!

CPTED Certification Training Class, December 2-4, 2025
Thank you to the Edmonds School District (ESD) for hosting our most recent CPTED Certification class earlier in December 2025. Special thanks to Layne Erdman, Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness Specialist for ESD, and former Chief of Police and Fire Marshall for West Richland, and former Chief of Police for Pyramid Lake, for arranging the training. It was a pleasure working with you and your team, Chief!
Battle of the Badges: Holiday Lights 2025
We hope you had an opportunity to partake in this year’s Battle of The Badge Holiday Lights event, hosted by the Renton Police Department on December 6th at Renton Technical College. It is always such a great community engagement event. Special acknowledgement goes out to Renton PD’s Stephanie Hynes (this year’s WSCPA President’s Award recipient) for her tireless efforts in bringing this event to life. A hearty congratulations to the winners:

* Clark Griswold Award: Port of Seattle Fire Department – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
* Festive Innovation: DEA Seattle Division – Don’t Let Drugs Donkey Kong Your Holidays!
* Holiday Spirit Award (presented by the Renton Chamber): Port of Seattle Police Department – Christmas Movies
Congratulations to this year’s winners and a big shoutout to every agency that showed up with incredible displays and nonstop community spirit.

* CPTED Certification Training hosted by Ellensburg Police Department, May 12-14, 2026
* CPTED Certification Training hosted by Vancouver (WA) Police Department, August 11-13, 2026
* 48th Annual Crime Prevention and Community Engagement Conference at Icicle Village in Leavenworth, WA, October 26-28, 2026.
We are coordinating with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and Educational Service District staff on the possibility of holding a school-centric CPTED Training in July 2026. We will provide more information as details are worked out.
Crime Prevention Thursday
Our next Crime Prevention Thursday session is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11am Pacific Time. Our next session will be an opportunity for us to network, check in, review 2025 accomplishments and projects, and preview the year to come; what do you all have planned and want to get done together? Dues Reminder
Our association relies on membership dues to keep our operations running. As a reminder, two of the benefits you receive as a member are:
Payments For Membership and Trainings.
Our ability to accept online payment for memberships and trainings is currently unavailable. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to rectify this as quickly as possible.
When going to our website and selecting a training or a membership, register at the $0 rate. If your organization prefers to pay by check and you need an invoice/purchase order, please reach out to us directly at [email protected] and we will generate one for you and email it to you. Additionally, if you prefer to pay by credit card, we can take those payments over the phone; call Mark Solomon directly at 206-679-1162. You will receive a receipt via email letting you know your payment was processed. We do not retain your credit card information. Your membership or training registration is not valid until payment is received.
