Crime Prevention Thursdays

Every third Thursday of each month, the Washington State Crime Prevention Association will offer a webinar or training for Crime Prevention Thursdays!

Don’t miss our next roundtable with special guest Stephanie Hynes (Renton PD) as we dive into plans for Battle of the Badges 2026! We’ll also be hosting an open invite for partners to share their own upcoming community events. If you’re looking for engagement ideas or planning support, join us for this great networking session.

Join us to hear from Megan Grable, a Neighborhood Planner with the city of Fort Wayne Indiana, will present on Fort Wayne, Indiana’s High Street CPTED Pilot Project, recently recognized as the U.S. CPTED Association’s Project of the Year.  Designed from inception using CPTED principles and evaluated in real time through an academic partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, the project achieved a 40.3% reduction in crime along the corridor, an 86% reduction compared to statistically similar streets, and a 25% decrease in surrounding areas, all sustained over three years.  What distinguishes this project is not only its outcomes, but its replicable framework.

The presentation is intentionally structured to focus on the project's methods: how the pilot area was selected, how partnerships between law enforcement, neighborhoods, and local government were built, how phased infrastructure and activation strategies were aligned, and how results were measured and translated into expansion.
